John Forrest

Non-Executive Chairman

Dr Forrest has an MA from Cambridge and a DPhil from Oxford. After 3 years at Stanford University, California as Research Associate and Lecturer, he joined UCL, becoming Professor of Electronic Engineering with a research group in microwaves and optics. In 1984 he joined Marconi Defence Systems as Technical Director and later became Director of Engineering at the Independent Broadcasting Authority. From this engineering team, he formed the communications company NTL, becoming its first Chief Executive and later its Deputy Chairman.

He was Director of 3i plc and has held appointments as Chairman or Director of many technology sector companies and served on government and public committees. He is former Senior Vice President of the Royal Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the CBE in H.M. the Queen's Jubilee Honours and the Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts at des Lettres by the French Government.
